Q: How much are counseling services?
A: Counseling services at the YWCA of Greater Austin are offered on a sliding scale. The sliding scale is based on household income and number of dependents.
Q: Do you offer counseling on the weekend?
A: Counseling hours for the YWCA of Greater Austin are Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There are no weekend appointments available.
Q: Do you provide day care services?
A: Unfortunately, the YWCA of Greater Austin does not provide day care services. 2-1-1 Texas may be contacted for assistance in locating low cost day care services, as well as Child, Inc. at 451-7361.
Q: Can I get financial assistance through the YWCA of Greater Austin to pay for rent, phone or other utilities?
A: THE YWCA of Greater Austin does not have the ability to offer financial assistance. Please contact Caritas at 472-4135 for financial assistance.
Q: Do you have rooms to rent or a place to stay?
A: The YWCA of Greater Austin is primarily a mental health facility. For emergency shelter contact the Salvation Army at 476-1111 for adults and families, Lifeworks Emergency Shelter for children from age 7 to age 17.

A: While not directly on a busline, you can reach the YWCA of Greater Austin by being dropped off at Oltorf and IH-35 by the <4 or &1 bus and walk north on the frontage road of North IH-35 for about 1/4 of a mile.

Q: Does the YWCA of Greater Austin provide services to youth?
A: Yes, Generation YW, a program of YWCA of Greater Austin, provides curriculum-based education/skills training groups, referrals and intervention counseling for girls in select middle-schools and for teen girls and boys referred by local juvenile courts. They also conduct community-based tobacco presentations for adults and youth, as well as tobacco/alcohol/drug awareness community activities. All services are provided by referral only.
